HI! I’m Rachel! Welcome to my site!

I am so glad you have found your way to my site! I really want to take some time to introduce myself and hopefully you’ll get a feel for who I am, my vibe with photography and decide we can be friends! YAY!

So who am I? I am an animal-loving, boho chick who loves chasing golden hour, laying out in the sun, eating licorice, and being goofy. We (my husband and I) have been married since October of 2019, and we have 13 pets. Yes, 13. 8 cats, 5 dogs. I am a sucker for rescuing animals in need. We rescue shiba inu’s and our most recent is a shiba-jindo mix. You can most certainly find me posting about them…a LOT! Don’t let the snow photo fool you… my shibas have not been a fan of the snow and cold this past winter. They are just like me. Much prefer warm weather!!

If you’re interested in learning more about shibas, don’t hesitate to ask me! If you live in the Midwest and looking to rescue one of these amazing pups, check out the Shiba Inu Rescue Association.

Our 4 year old Shiba, Guillermo

My love for pets has really brought me to being a pet photographer. I LOVE when people want photos for their pets. I have done sessions for people whose pets don’t have much longer, sessions for younger pets (cats, dogs AND horses!!), and everything in-between. Check out some of my work here!

The other stuff about me

I am OBSESSED with anything boho and golden hour. Flowy clothes, peacock chairs, greenery florals, gemstones and crystals, golden skies, anything 1960’s/1970’s, vinyl records, classic rock, etc etc etc! Obsessed.

This was the set up at a wedding photoshoot and I.WAS.IN.HEAVEN.

I love shooting weddings, graduations, family, pets, overall life. When I started photography, I never wanted to get boxed into only one type of photography. Why? Because there’s so many amazing life moments. I believe whole-heartedly that what is important to YOU deserves to be documented. I love capturing the things that mean something to my clients. These memories will last a lifetime. I want people to go back and look at photos years from now and remember those joyful moments.

When I do a photoshoot, it is so important to me that people feel beautiful, loved, happy. I strive to make the shoot memorable and fun. It is so important to me that people enjoy their experience. You can always find me making bad jokes, and having clients be silly. I hear often enough “I’ve never gotten photographed so you’ll have to tell me what to do!” And to be honest, I am 99% sure I said the same thing to photographers before I got into photography. OF COURSE I will tell you what to do! I am not going to just say ok I am here with my camera, now you model for me and I won’t talk. Nah! I will definitely be posing you. BUT I will also be having you do things to capture raw, authentic moments. What does that mean? Here’s some examples:

  • Running through a field towards me, holding your partners hand
  • Giving or receiving a piggyback ride
  • Walking your dog towards me while looking at your pup
  • Petting your cat, and giving it kisses while sitting on a blanket
  • In a pretty, fancy dress? Give me a spin and let me see that skirt twirl!
  • Graduation and rocking that cap and gown? K. Let’s toss that cap up to the sky!
  • Me (or my husband) making a really bad joke so that you are deep belly laughing and not looking at the camera at all
  • Kissing. Lots of kissing!
  • Snuggle up with your baby and just admire them!
  • Parents holding toddlers hands and swinging them as high as they can!
  • Letting your dog give all.the.kisses!!!

Get the idea? I love raw candid moments. Truly. You can find them all over my website and my social media (hey btw – go follow me on Instagram and Facebook!).

Well, I hope you have gotten to know me a bit better! Of course if you have ANY questions please reach out! I’ll be blogging more so you’ll get to know me way better, I hope! Hit me up and let’s book some photography sessions! Toodles!
