Your newborn is a miracle worth celebrating—full of tiny yawns, sweet snuggles, and those precious, unscripted moments that make this chapter unforgettable. My approach is all about capturing the real them—the soft stretches, the sleepy smiles, the way they fit perfectly in your arms. No stiff setups, no forced poses—just effortless, true-to-you images that celebrate your little one, exactly as they are.

Your little one is almost here (or maybe already has arrived!), and I’m over-the-moon excited to help you capture every tiny yawn, soft snuggle, and peaceful sigh. Welcome to Bohemian Lights Photography—your go-to for vibrant, natural, and storytelling-focused newborn photos in Lafayette, IN, and beyond!
I’m Rachel, and since 2019, I’ve been crisscrossing the Midwest, chasing moments that matter. From those first sleepy cuddles to that quiet moment you realize they’re really yours—I live for the unscripted, the heartfelt, and the downright magical. Whether you’re celebrating in Lafayette, West Lafayette, or a nearby town, I’m here to freeze those fleeting, once-in-a-lifetime newborn days in photos you’ll treasure forever.

Ideally, within the first 2-3 weeks! Newborns are sleepiest and most flexible during this window, which makes for those dreamy, curled-up poses. That said, if life happens and we need to shoot later, we'll absolutely make it work—every baby is different, and we'll capture beautiful moments no matter what.
Plan for about an hour, but we'll work on baby's schedule, not the clock. If they need to eat, be changed, or just need a cuddle break, we'll pause. The goal is keeping everyone relaxed and happy—no rushing.
Feed them right before! A full, sleepy baby is a cooperative baby. I always build in time for feeding during the session too, so don't stress if they get hungry mid-shoot.
Absolutely! Some of my favorite shots include big brothers and sisters meeting their new sibling, or parents snuggling with their brand-new addition. Just let me know who you want included, and we'll make it happen naturally.
No worries at all! I've photographed over 100 celebrations and worked with plenty of wide-awake babies. Here's the truth: not all babies are sleepy or cooperative, and that is completely okay. Set aside any expectations of what you see in those perfect, curled-up Pinterest newborn photos—your baby has their own personality, and we're going to capture that. We'll capture the yawns, the stretches, the wide-eyed curiosity, even the grumpy faces—all of it is precious and real. Some of the sweetest shots happen when babies are alert and taking in the world, or when you're comforting them through a crying moment. Those are the photos that will make you remember exactly what this time was like.
Both! We can shoot at my Lafayette studio or in the comfort of your home—whatever feels right for your family. Studio sessions give us great lighting and backdrops, while in-home sessions feel more intimate and personal. That said, when you're sleep-deprived and adjusting to life with a new baby, the last thing you might want to do is straighten up your house for photos—and that's totally fine and exactly why I have a studio! You can show up, focus on your baby, and not worry about whether the dishes are done or the laundry is folded.
