Some celebrations remind you that the most beautiful traditions are the ones passed down through generations. 💛
I recently had the honor of photographing a Nepali weaning ceremony at the Stables Event Center in Lafayette – a first for me, and an experience I won't forget. For those unfamiliar, a weaning ceremony (called "Pasni" or "Annaprasan") is a significant milestone in Nepali and Hindu culture where a baby is fed their first solid food, typically rice.
It's a beautiful tradition that celebrates a child's transition to the next stage of life, surrounded by family, blessings, and joy.
The celebration was absolutely stunning. The vibrant coral and orange color palette created such warmth throughout the Stables' beautiful barn space. Watching family members in gorgeous traditional attire dance, laugh, and celebrate this little one's milestone reminded me why I'm so passionate about documenting these cultural celebrations.
That moment with the adorable photo booth cutout? Pure joy. The matching mother-daughter outfits? Absolutely precious.
What I love most about milestone photography is the privilege of documenting traditions from all walks of life. Every culture has its own beautiful ways of marking important moments, and each deserves to be captured with the same care and attention.
These photos aren't just about a party – they're about preserving cultural heritage, honoring family traditions, and creating memories that this little one will treasure as they grow up understanding their roots.
The Stables Event Center proved to be the perfect canvas for this vibrant celebration. The blank slate barn space allowed the colorful decorations and traditional elements to truly shine, while providing plenty of room for family to gather, dance, and celebrate together.
To this beautiful family: thank you for trusting me to document such a meaningful milestone in your daughter's life. May she grow up surrounded by this same love, tradition, and celebration.
